How We Started

Ubuntu Shipping was formed in 2018 with the vision and mission to offer a customised logistics solution to the customer. From Large Corporates to the “1 man band” our aim is to tailor make a solution that suits you best. It was clear that the Large Clearing and Forwarding Agents labelled all clients with a client number, and the understanding of the clients business needs and wants, was not a priority hence the birth of Ubuntu Shipping.

Our primary objective is to understand your business and create solutions that work for you, the customer. We are a Proud BBBEE Level 1 Service Provider, people driven and focus on “old school logistics”, as this has proven to be the primary requirement from most customers.

Our Director, Mr Sylvester Moodley, hails from the Township of Phoenix in Durban, South Africa. It is from these Humble Beginnings that he was taught by his elders & the community in which he was raised, the importance of “Ubuntu”

His belief that even through business, we can always assist and help others – stems from teachings from great leaders that have walked this earth like:

Nelson Mandela: “A traveller through a country would stop at a village and he didn’t have to ask for food or for water. Once he stops, the people gave him food and assisted him without any expectations”

Thiruvalluvar, Thirukural: “Although an act of help done timely, might be small in nature, it is truly larger than the world itself”

With these teachings of Ubuntu, Ubuntu Shipping strives to always ensure that all business transactions are conducted morally, ethically and to the best of our abilities.
